6.0 Old Business

7.0 New Business

7.01   KDHE Waste Tire Grant (D/A)

Background:  KDHE has a matching grant that can be used to put recycled tire mulch on playgrounds or other recycled tire surfaces.  The Elementary Playground needs quite a bit of mulch and we add wood mulch to it almost yearly.  The rubber mulch would last longer and this is an opportunity to get a grant to cover some of the cost.

Recommendation:  To discuss the grant opportunity and receive guidance from the Board whether to apply or not.

7.02  Bus Options (D/A)

Background:  We currently have 2 buses that are not running due to needing motors.  We have been exploring options of replacing the motors or getting replacement buses. After being told replacement motors were available, they have now informed us they are not.  We can get another bus around the time the other 2 should arrive for $140,000 which includes a 10yr warranty on the motor and 36mon on other components.  This would mean paying for 3 buses this year.

Recommendation:  Provide guidance on the direction the Board wishes to take.

7.03   KASB Policy Updates (D) -- First Reading

Purpose:  Two times a year KASB provides suggested policy updates to local Board Policies.  These policy suggestions are developed by KASB Attorneys due to changes in law and other items.

Supporting Documents:  KASB Policy Updates Summary

Recommendation:  This is the first reading of the policy updates.  No action recommended, discussion only.
